OUR STORY

Why hello there, my name is Whitley, thanks for stopping by, I'm so glad you're here!

When I think about "our story" it's much too long for this little introduction paragraph, but never fear, I've never been one to skimp on words, especially when it comes to telling a story. The full story will come later in a series of blog posts I imagine. But in short, I'm a western-oklahoman girl who grew up on a 5th generation family farm dreaming of the day that I could raise my family here like so many generations before me. It might have taken a few years, many adventures with the Lord, and lots of waiting, but the Lord was so gracious in answering that prayer.
Little did I know that while that little girl was dreaming of raising a family on her farm in Oklahoma, that over 1,000 miles away there was a little boy growing up under the pine trees of Myrtle Creek, Oregon dreaming of the day that he could have animals of every kind, drive around with all his kids packed into a station wagon, and adventure in nature all day long. And so, as the Lord would have it, Clay and I met (more on that later), were just friends (more on this too), not interested in one another at all (oh, and this too)... until the Lord opened our eyes (my favorite part of our story), and the rest is history (it will be a series of posts as you can see).

We got married in February 2020, right before the world shut down and the pandemic began, found out we were expecting our son in August, and Shepherd was born April 13, 2021. As the end of 2021 was nearing, our plans to move to my family's farm was in full swing, and my great-grandparent's house on the farm that we had been remodeling over the last year, was just about finished. We've officially been residents of the House on a Hill since April 2022, and our prayer is that all the dreams we have for our farm, above all, they would honor the Lord and point others to Him.

We hope you'll stick around for this journey, as we share our adventures on the farm, in the flower garden, the food we love to cook, and of course, all that the Lord teaches us along the way.
